Learn basic chords, sight reading and songs. Bring a guitar or rent one from the instructor. Electric guitars welcome; bring own practice amp. An additional book fee of $16.25 is payable to Guitar Fundamentals on the first class day. Class for ages 7 to 16 meets on Thursdays, May 3 through June 21, from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the Pottawatomie Community Center, 8 North Avenue. Fee is $125 for residents and $175 for non-residents.
Mining Census Records - by Speaker Stephen Szabados. Census data is the first best data that should be researched when doing your family history. The amount of varied data that you can discover on an ancestor over a series of census reports is phenomenal. Szabados will show us why it is important not to overlook this wealth of easily available online data. The 1940 census will have been released for public viewing in April 2012.
Join Primrose Farm staff for a guided, horse-drawn wagon tour of the bounty that Illinois can produce. Ride through the fields, pastures and orchard while learning the hows and whys of farm crops as they change throughout the seasons. Tour for all ages is on Thursday, May 24 from 4 to 5 p.m. at Primrose Farm, 5N726 Crane Road. Fee is $8 for residents and $12 for non-residents.

Two Brothers Roundhouse welcomes Miles Nielsen and The Rusted Hearts. Nielsen’s stirs up his own pop rock brand of Beatles-eque Cosmic Americana. Born in Rockford, home of Cheap Trick and 'Symbol', power pop DNA runs through the veins of his songs and performances. He has opened for acts such as Medeski, Martin & Wood, to Cake, to Moe.
