ST. CHARLES – Monday’s meeting between the St. Charles East and Kaneland baseball teams was the last time they could refine their game before they start regional play Wednesday.
AURORA – Rosary pitcher Cara Smoczynski took a line drive off her leg during Monday’s IHSA Class 3A IMSA Regional opener against host IMSA.
SENECA – The Aurora Christian baseball team drubbed crosstown foe Aurora Central Catholic on Saturday in the IHSA Class 2A Seneca Regional championship, defeating ACC, 11-1.
GENEVA – It got late early for the Batavia baseball team Friday night in its nonconference game with Kaneland at Fifth Third Bank Ballpark.
ROSELLE – St. Charles East and St. Charles North emerged as the top two boys tennis teams on Friday during the first day of the IHSA Lake Park Sectional, each advancing a pair of entries to today’s final round and, consequently, to next week’s IHSA state tournament.
STREAMWOOD – The Geneva baseball team broke or tied three program records Thursday in its 13-2, six-inning victory over Streamwood in Upstate Eight Conference River Division play.
AURORA – Any hopes Marmion baseball coach Dave Rakow had of besting his alma mater Thursday were ruined by the arm of Batavia junior Austin Shanahan.
GENEVA – St. Charles East senior left-hander Kyle Manske gladly traded hard wear for hardware Thursday night.
ST CHARLES – St. Charles East baseball coach Len Asquini laughed as he said all of St. Charles was in a giving mood Wednesday after the Saints’ topped North, 3-2, in Game 2 of the Upstate Eight Conference River Division series.
