Being part of the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater’s run to the NCAA Division III Sweet 16 last season is something Bob Shone always will remember. He can’t forget standing on the sidelines for a good portion of that season.

Marmion boys soccer players banded together before the postseason in an effort to present their coach with the ultimate parting gift.

FRANKFORT – The Marmion boys soccer team has had a penchant for scraping out tight postseason victories, and was fresh off a comeback triumph that landed the Cadets in the IHSA Class 2A boys soccer state semifinals.

FRANKFORT – There’s not a school around the area where the bar for sports success is set higher than Marmion these days.

AURORA – Marmion defenders have confounded twins, blanketed 30-goal scorers and hounded conference MVPs during this boys soccer postseason.

DeKALB – One of Kevin O’Connor’s last strategic tweaks as Marmion’s boys soccer coach paid off handsomely for the Cadets.

DeKALB – The St. Francis boys soccer team was completely comfortable in the underdog role.

The beat goes on for the Marmion boys soccer team, which will look to extend its postseason at the IHSA Class 2A DeKalb Supersectional at 7 tonight against Lakes.
