BATAVIA – Meggan Hagemann selected a remix of a hardcore punk song for her floor exercise because she thought it captured her approach to Batavia gymnastics.

SOUTH ELGIN – The Burlington Central girls basketball team suffered a 71-39 non-conference loss to South Elgin on Monday in a game it trailed, 37-13, at halftime.

STREAMWOOD – With senior point guard Ryan Willing enjoying what coach Phil Ralston called a “career night across the board,” the Geneva boys basketball team bounced Streamwood, 56-41, to remain unbeaten in Upstate Eight Conference River Division play.

DeKALB – Burlington Central girls basketball coach Jenna Real looked at the positives.

BATAVIA – The Geneva girls gymnastics team placed second in a triangular meet hosted by Batavia on Monday, with the Waubonsie Valley co-op narrowly winning the meet.

Sidelined her entire freshman season with a right ACL injury, 2010 St. Charles East grad Courtney Cochefski was able to lean on gymnastics teammate and fraternal twin, Tori, to get through a “roller coaster” year at Texas Woman’s University.
